Cleveland Ohio. The National Football League on Friday fined Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel, 21, $12,000 after Manziel in an act of anger flashed the middle finger of his right hand at members of the Washington Redskins football team during a preseason game on Monday.
The Browns played their second preseason game at Fed Ex Field which is the home of the Washington Redskins on Monday night. Manziel evidently forgot the fact since he is being hyped up with the nickname Johnny Football that the television cameras were going to watch his movements through the football game.
ESPN televised the second preseason game between the Redskins and Browns for their Monday Night Football telecasts. Manziel has learned that the talent level in the National Football League is a lot tougher playing college football when Manziel was the quarterback of the Texas A & M Aggies for two seasons.
First year Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine said about his rookie quarterback making an obscene gesture in an act of anger “Disappointing.” Manziel on Wednesday received the news that he will be the second string quarterback of the Browns at the start of the 2014 football season.
Pettine said on Wednesday his starting quarterback this football season will be six year veteran of the National Football League Brian Hoyer. Hopefully Manziel will learn to control his temper on the gridiron since he is a role model for young football players who look up to him.
Even though it was just a preseason game that will not count in the regular season standings, the Redskins won the football game 24-23.
