The Central Government Employees of Group C and D are agitated over the partisan attitude and utter disregard towards them shown by the 6th Pay Commission Report and have planned to launch a nationwide stir, until their grievances are redressed.
The 6th Pay Commission has widened the growing gulf between the class IV and the Class I officers. The Fifth Pay commission kept their gap at the ratio of 1: 12 and the 6 th Pay Commission widened their gulf further into 1:15. While the salaries of the Group ‘A’ Officers have been enhanced three-fold, the benefits given to the Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ employees is only between 20 and 28 % and the statement that the 6th pay commission enhances their salary by 40% is false and apparent. Besides, the Dearness Allowance to the extent of 47 % already drawn by the employees has been merged with their present basic pay to create a new pay scale and so the actual benefit stands gained by the Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ employees is only between 20 and 28 %.
While the Group ‘A’ officers salary has been enhanced from Rs 30,000 to Rs 90,000/-, the Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ employees have been cheated and the minimum scale of pay that a Group ‘D’ employee will get is only Rs 6,660/- which is only an eyewash and the employees demand of minimum of Rs 10,000/ as the scale of an entrant, say a Group ‘C’ or Group ‘D’ employee has not been considered at all by the 6 th pay commission.
Though the maternity leave of women employees has been increased from 135 to 180 days, it is rather insignificant and the facility is available in almost all the western countries even with added advantage. The one time grant of Rs 1,000/-as educational allowance will meet only 1/20 th of the actual educational expenses incurred by a Central Government servant.
Therefore, the Central Government employees of Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ employees have planned to go for nationwide agitation against the discriminating recommendations of the 6 th pay commission, till their grievances are redressed. They launch their Nationwide agitation tomorrow by resorting to demonstrations before the Central Government offices, in India.
