Nita Ambani’s name exudes power and command, especially due to the fact that it comes with the appendage of the title of Ambani. But this first lady of corporate India is more than just the name she carries. Today, in every one of her endeavors she has proven her mettle that she is indeed a modern day woman who can run a business just as well she can run a family. But what is more significant is the fact that Nita Ambani’s contributions to the area of social welfare and philanthropy have been so extensive, that she can indeed be termed as the face of modern day philanthropy.

Philanthropy is defined as the voluntary promotion of human welfare. To give one’s time, efforts and support to a cause with all their heart and soul is the mark of a true philanthropist and needless to say, Nita Ambani has earned the title rightfully. All her life, she has dedicated much of her time to community welfare and social causes. She is a firm believer of the fact that India can only progress if the children and youth today are educated and empowered with right skills. In support of education for all, Nita Ambani has been working rigorously to provide education opportunities to underprivileged children and youth. She is even supported by her cricket team Mumbai Indians and its members who have been motivated by their strong arm leader to pursue such a noble cause. Besides education, she has been spear heading the philanthropic arm of Reliance, the Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation, which looks after social and community welfare programs in areas that Reliance functions in. She is also a part of Reliance Industries and UNAIDS partnership which is aimed at spreading awareness, halting and reversing the HIV epidemic in India. To give vision to the sightless, she has been leading Project Drishti, which is a unique initiative by Reliance and NAB.

Nita Ambani has received many a great honors for her role in developing the community and its people but her work towards the same is a far bigger prize to the community.
