It was less than a day that General Wesley Clark had lambasted presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona. However, Clark did not just attack McCain. But, he struck a low blow to McCain by attacking his military service record. Clark addressed McCain’s service as a fighter pilot and POW during the Vietnam War; but, added that McCain never led soldiers in battle.
Clark said that while McCain was shot down in battle, it did not qualify him to become United States President. Those remarks had brought forth a political firestorm against presumed Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama of Illinois. At the same time, liberal run websites were quick to attack McCain.
However, Obama did not attack McCain’s service record. Obama condemned the criticism about McCain’s service record. He himself gave praise to McCain and his service record. Obama said that McCain’s service record is not something that should be spat upon.
Then, Obama talked about patriotism. It was only a few days ago that Obama’s patriotism has been attacked.
In a nutshell, Obama condemned criticism of McCain’s service record. However, expect Obama’s patriotism and McCain’s service record to be repeatedly attacked from now until November.
A new political firestorm has been created. However, another political firestorm just makes things far more interesting.
The Obama and McCain campaigns are going to use everything against each other. That very well includes the kitchen sink. This will be quite the interesting political brawl as both Obama and McCain compete for the US Presidency this coming November.
