PESHAWAR– Pakistan National Awamy Party (ANP) leader and North West Frontier Province Assembly Member Alamzeb Khan was killed today, and eight injured, in Peshawar, the region’s capital.
The blast occurred when MPA Alamzeb Khan entered his car, parked outside his home in Momen Town, Peshawar. Eight people were injured in the blast, including his security guard and PA Abul Hassan.
Khan was rushed to the emergency room of Ladi Reading Hospital but did not recover after two hours of surgery. "He is dead," said District Coordination Officer of Peshawar Sahibzada Anees and Deputy Medical Superintendent of LRH Hizar Hayat, confirming MPA Alamzeb’s death.
Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain and others condemned the blast. "Alamzeb’s killing was an assassination," party sources added. The party source revealed that several office barriers and leaders of Awamy National Party have been targeted in Swat, Hangu and other parts of the province. Superintendent of Police (SP) Eejaz Abid told this correspondent that a 5-KG remote controlled bomb caused the blast. "The target of the bomb blast was the MPA Alamzeb," SP City Peshawar Eejaz Abid stated.
