Jammu, April 11, (Scoop News)-Panun Kashmir (PK) has expressed serious concern the recent political developments, statements and utterances in regard to the resettlement of the Kashmir Pandits (KP’s) in the valley and said they are the indigenous people of Kashmir since times immemorial and have an inalienable right on the territory of Kashmir.
Addressing media persons in Jammu, the winter capital, on Saturday, president of PK, Ashwani Chrangoo said that these people have been living as refugees in their own country due to the ethnic cleansing and mass exodus from Kashmir.
He said the sufferings of the community had been recognized by the National Human Rights Commission as genocide. The recent controversy regarding the resettlement of the displaced community in Kashmir is absolutely unfortunate and exposed the mindset of the forces that are hell bent to keep this community in limbo till perpetuity.
“The government’s unilateral statements on the issue of return without any consultation with the prime stakeholders and the subsequent U-turn shows the infirmity of the entire policy and process in this regard” , Chrangoo charged adding that the insensitivity with which the serious issue of resettlement is being handled shows the non-serious attitude of the government”s.n.
He also condemned the reactive politics of the secessionist forces and the Kashmir centric political parties against the resettlement of the community members in the valley.
Speaking during the press briefing, national spokesman of PK, Virender Raina said in view of the exodus of the Kashmir Pandits in 1989-90 and the past historical experiences of persecution, the resettlement module that KPs envision for themselves is a settled issue in the form of a separate homeland in Kashmir.
He said the homeland with political and constitutional guarantees representing the geo-political aspirations of the displaced community would alone pave the way for the resettlement of the community in Kashmir.
The spokesman said the government in order to bolster the confidence of the displaced community should appoint a “Commission of Inquiry” that would go into the causes of the rise of terrorism and fundamentalism in the valley and the consequent mass exodus of the community from Kashmir.
“The mass murderers and perpetrators of the terrorist violence against the community need to be tried in fast track courts and brought to justice which will work as a big confidence building measure”, Raina demanded.
Meanwhile, expressing dismay state VHP patron, Dr. Ramakant Dubey, over the hue & cry raised by both political and other stake holders of the state in connection with the rehabilitation of migrated Hindus in Kashmir, who were thrown out en-mass about 25 years back.
“Their only fault was being Hindus and nationalists as well. Going by the historical facts, these hapless people were the original inhabitants of the valley. Not now but they have been facing such challenges right from the Islamic invasion in the valley more than eight centuries back”, VHP leader charged.
