Pediophobia, even though it has a common appearance in the early years of a kids development, usually tends to be ignored, mostly because in most cases, its just but a temporary fobia that little kids might have, and will eventually get over it, but, what is it anyway?
In simple words, pediophobia is an irrational fear of dolls, which can vary in ranges from simple toys to mannequins, dummies, puppets or more. It appearance can be simply by psychological trauma, imitation of other people responses, and in some situations, there’s no specific cause.
The main symptoms are the same as any other kind of fear: hard breathing, sweating, muscle tension and others. If untreated, this phobia can stay until adult life.
Even though its a psychological illness, it can be either easily treatable, or it can be really hard to treat, depending on the nature of the fear, how it started and how much it affects a person’s life, but the most suggested method is going to a psychiatrist and a therapist.
