Jammu, August 29(Scoop News)-Panun Kashmir demands a special investigation headed by a Supreme Court judge to investigate the numerous incidents of communal harassment of Kashmiri Hindus living in the valley. Addressing a Press conference Dr. Ajay Chrungoo Chairman Panun Kashmir said that the investigation should also look into the causes of distress amongst the internally displaced Kashmiri Hindus living in Jagati camp in Jammu. The complicity and abetment of the administration as well as the political forces operating in the state in this communal attrition needs to be investigated in depth to prevent any major human tragedy which seems to be awaiting the besieged returnees to the valley.
Dr. M.L.Kaul Member Panun Kashmir Advisory Council and Kuldeep Raina Gen. Secretary Panun Kashmir were also present in the press conference.
Dr. Ajay Chrungoo while talking to reporters said that such an investigation has become an imperative necessity in the light of the criminal denial by the authorities and the political class in the state as well as in the capital of the nation. The incidents of communal intimidation have assumed an alarming frequency now as the radical Islamic movement is rearing its head once again all over the state.
Not long after the communal incidents in Kishtwar the transition camp at Haal, Pulwama, where Kashmir Hindu employees have been housed by the state government, was subjected to intense stone pelting by communal hordes Dr . Chrungoo said. He alleged that the authorities have tried to underplay the incident as they did in case of another intense harassment of Kashmiri Hindus living in a temple premises in Srinagar city. If the reports percolating to this place are true that the authorities were extremely reluctant to come to their help and had suggested them to approach the separatist leaders including the patriarch of the Islamic radicalization in Kashmir valley, then the gravity of situation assumes serious dimensions.
The desecration and damage of temple in Handwara almost around the same time speaks about the new zeal with which communal forces have been working in the valley, he said.
Dr. Chrungoo said that the frequent discontinuation of power and water supply in Jagati camp, delay in the distribution of relief and ration, is neither the result of mere apathy or breakdown of the government machinery looking after the camps of internally displaced Hindus. It seems to be a part of the same communal attrition to which Kashmiri Hindus are being subjected in the entire state.
Panun Kashmir appeals to government of India to immediately transfer the Kashmiri Hindu employees to Jammu and take appropriate measures to correct the situation in jagati camp.
