Jammu,June 09 (Scoop News) –Panun Kashmir,President, Vijay Kumar Bhat today reiterated the need to address the return problem in the light of and within the confines of a separate Homeland for Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir , a solution which alone was concomitant of the geo political aspirations of the community. Any other solution or option would make the community vulnerable to situations similar to the one of 1990 for which the KP community can never be ready any more, even on a hypothetical trial basis.
Vijay Kumar Bhat was addressing a meeting today in Jammu,in which the emerging political scenario in the state in respect of its impact on the exiled Kashmiri Pandit community also with reference to the much talked of the interlocutors’ report, was discussed. The meeting was attended by Rajindra Kaul, Rakesh Peer, Sanjay Raina, Ram Krishen Kaul Sudesha Kaul,
Vijay Kumar said that Panun Kashmir had already rejected the three member Inter-locutors’ report as having come out with nothing in its recommendations and suggestions to address the intricate problem of mass exodus of the ethnic minority of Kashmiri Pandits from their hearths and homes. Not going into the non statutory and efficacious character or the enforcing powers of the suggestions of the report, a mere two liner reference in the report of the said problem involving seven lac people , the biggest human tragedy after the country’s partition, is all the more reprehensible.
Amidst of echoing of such sentiments in the meeting, the President wondered how long could the government at the centre and at the state attempt to address the horrendous problem of reversal of exodus as per the aspirations of the community by only adopting patch work and micro ad hoc approaches ?
Bhat put the community members on the guard against maneuverings from different political elements, now shedding crocodile tears for the community and asking them to return to Kashmir by employing emotive sloganeering and parroting of the so called Kashmiryat and “centuries old traditions”.
He reminded the leadership of this particular political party to account for the Nadimarg massacre of Pandits in March 2003 when that party was in power in the state and was parroting wholesale “healing touch” and also its total failure in addressing the residuary day to day problems faced by the beleaguered community.
Sanjay Datattreya National Cordinator took a dig at the tall claims of the government in not even giving practical shape to the much hyped employment package which the state and the centre had to share in equal proportion and that continues to be in disarray even four years after its sanction. The Revenue Minister had assured the unemployed youth that the “remaining candidates “ from the existing list would get the appointment letters on Shivratri this year as a Shivratri gift which till date has proved elusive. The fate of the over aged youth continues to hang in balance which is condemnable. He strongly urged the government to forthwith arrange to implement the PM’s package and any further delaying tactics would not be tolerated. The meager monthly cash assistance to the identified members of the community, requires immediate enhancement as just Rs.1250 per person per month cannot keep one’s body and soul together.
