The former CIA agent named Valerie Plame is having her memoir titled “My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House” plans to be published on Monday, October 22. It looks as if this memoir is Valerie Plame’s way of getting even with the government administration that has “betrayed” her by the leaking of the identity and that she was CIA.
Valerie Plame had worked as a CIA agent for quite awhile. It was four years ago that her identity as a CIA agent was leaked out in a newspaper column. Valerie Plame could be considered the “Jane Bond” of the United States. When the book comes out on Monday, it would seem that the White House let alone the George W. Bush Administration had a lot to fear. They could very well be put on the hot seat when Valerie Plame’s book comes out to stores.
The book implicates high profile figures such as Carl Rove who was Bush’s former chief of staff, Scooter Libby, and Robert Novak.
During that time before the leak, Plame worked undercover for the CIA. Her husband didn’t even know her identity. Joseph Wilson, the husband to Valerie Plame was a former United States Ambassador. Wilson was sent to verify intelligence received that Iraq had acquired nuclear materials.
This was all based by intelligence gathered by the British. The intelligence made its way into the 2004 State of the Union address. That intelligence report was the “justification” for George W. Bush bringing troops to Iraq.
Plame has had a prospective career as she worked as a covert operative since the age of twenty-two. However, her career in intelligence seems to be ruined as a report of her identity being leaked out to the press. During the course of her career, Plame had gathered information taking jobs for embassies and numerous businesses.
However, many parts of Plame’s book have been omitted by the CIA as her assignments are still classified. She states that the reporters allowed themselves to be exploited by the George W. Bush Administration.
But we won’t know what to expect from her memoirs unless we read it. George W. Bush’s Administration should have a lot to fear upon the release. This could also hurt the GOP’s chances of winning the 2008 United States Presidency.
