Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who underwent coronary bypass surgery last week, is "fit to be discharged anytime soon", his personal physician K Srinath Reddy said on Saturday.
"We are in the process of conducting a series of pre-discharge investigations for the Prime Minister . He is fit to be discharged anytime soon," Reddy said. Manmohan Singh, 76, was operated upon at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on January 24 to remove five arterial blockages.
According to the team of doctors attending Manmohan Singh, he is "convalescing very well" following his heart surgery and can return home ‘in a few days.’ The Prime Minister is perfectly fit and a decision on his discharge from the hospital will be taken in consultation with his office and some other agencies besides doctors," Reddy said.
