New Delhi, April 19 (Scoop News) – Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Tuesday had a meeting with Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh here and discussed various issues relating toJammu and Kashmir.
The two leaders took elaborative stock of the socio-economic development, maintenance of peace and tranquility, holding of Panchayat elections, recently concluded elections to Legislative Council and prevailing politico-economic scenario in the State.
The status and progress of dialogue process between the Interlocutors and various shades of public opinion in the State was also discussed in the meeting.
Omar briefed the Prime Minister about the headway made by the State Police in identifying the killers behind the assassination of religious leader, Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah. He also gave an account of the holding of Panchayat elections in the State after 30 years and presented resume of the arrangements made to conduct the Panchayat election in a peaceful manner.
The Chief Minister also briefed the Prime Minister of the thumping victory of coalition candidates in the recently held elections to six seats in the Legislative Council.

Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Union Home Minister, P. Chidambaram discussed matters relating to the State’s present security scenario and political developments at a meeting here today.
The two leaders deliberated upon the issues pertaining to the measures aimed at maintenance of law and order and peace in the State. The status and progress of dialogue process between the Interlocutors and various shades of opinion in the State also came up for discussion in the meeting.

Matters relating to the holding of non-party based free and fair elections to the Panchayats after over three decades in the State and putting in place security and other arrangements for the same were also discussed in detail.
The two leaders reviewed the peace initiatives and measures in place to maintain law and order. Measures to curb militancy in a befitting and coordinated manner were also discussed. Issues pertaining to AFSPA and Disturbed Areas Act were also deliberated upon in the meeting.
The two leaders reviewed the pace of work on various central projects under implementation in the State. The Chief Minister underlined the need for accelerating the pace on projects and engaging more and more locals in the works.

The two leaders reviewed the functioning of coalition and expressed satisfaction over cohesion and coordination between National Conference and Congress in dealing with the matters of public interests and ensuring good governance to the people.
