In an unnamed source Pope Benedict XVI has declared his approval of the persecution of Galileo.
The Roman Catholic leader has approved that the trial of Galileo and the imminent ultimate penalty, burning at the stake, was and continues to be a just form of penalty for any man, woman or child that speaks against the Pope.
Pope Benedict XVI has asserted that he is the ultimate and most important sovereign anywhere in the world, and including greater than G.W. Bush, and President of the United States of America.
In 1600, a dissident thinker, Giordano Bruno, is burned at the stake for publishing his own thoughts by the Inquisition, an institution of the Roman Catholic Church. Pope Urban VIII sat on the throne of St. Peter.
Also, in the year 1632, Galileo was summoned to Rome to appear to answer before the Inquisition. Three physicians issued an opinion that Galileo was too ill to travel the distance to Rome, from Florence. But the Inquisition rejected their statement and declared that if Galileo did not appear voluntarily that he would be arrested and taken to Rome in chains.1. Galileo died, January 8, 1641
Still the present Bishop of Rome has declared his satisfaction in the trial and the outcome of the case. It does go against the grain for a learned and educated man such as Joseph Ratzinger, to deny the scientific method and to say that Galileo was wrong in his statements about the nature of the cosmos.
