PESHAWAR: President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, on the second and last day of his visit to Peshawar, announced Rs. 280 millions for the affectees of army operations in Bajawar, Mohmand, Khyber Agency and other parts of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan.
He made this announcement while addressing a grand Tribal Jirga (a special meeting of tribals) held in Governor House Peshawar. In jirga Governor NWFP Owais Ahmad Ghani, elders, religous and political personalities participated of FATA.
He said during the operation uptill now 610 tribals were killed and more than thousands were injured, adding that for the relief and compensation Rs. 280 mllions will be released. “FATA will get development and prosperity, industries will have to instal and the tribals will also be sent to abroad”, President Zardari said.
He annouced Rs.30 millions increase in Annual Development Programe of FATA. “we had increased ADP of FATA from Rs. 80 millions to Rs. 110 millions and in the forthcoming two years it will be increased to Rs.160 millions”, President Zardari addressed the grand tribal jirga. He said people has made ‘Pakistan as a joke’ in the last few days, but such situatiom we willl not tolerate any more.
