Jammu, July 3(Scoop News)-A retired senior IAS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre G. R. Bhagat on Wednesday joined National Conference and pledged to work for the upliftment of people, especially the down-trodden segments of society.
Mr Bhagat, who recently retired as Secretary to Government Co-operatives Department, is yet another IAS officer who joined the National Conference. In February,B. D. Bhagat, IAS, who retired as Chairman J&K Subordinated Services Recruitment Board had joined the party along with large number of people from his area.
Welcoming Mr Bhagat in the party fold, Provincial President National Conference, Jammu Devender Singh Rana hoped that after playing a brilliant inning as a public servant, he will contribute for development of the state and welfare of the people on larger scale in his new role. He exuded confidence that his joining will further strengthen the party and help in serving the people with a missionary zeal.
“We welcome public spirited, honest and missionary people in our party to carry forward the mission of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah with vigour and zest for making Jammu and Kashmir a prosperous, progressive and peaceful state of his dreams”, the Provincial President said, adding that joining of prominent people in varied fields reflect the wider appeal of National Conference which believes in just society based on equality with opportunities of progress to all, irrespective caste, creed and colour.
Mr Rana conveyed the good wishes of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to Mr Bhagat on joining National Conference and said the party has to reactivate for playing its huge role in the State, which is fast steering to a new era of peace and development. “Momentum of these efforts will redouble with people like Mr Bhagat joining the larger National Conference family to achieve the cherished agenda of serving people in better and bigger way”, he maintained.
Those present on the occasion included senior Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, senior leaders, Th Kashmira Singh, Babu Ram Paul,Brij Mohan Sharma, Gurdeep Singh Sassan, Jugal Mahajan, Taranjeet Singh Tony, Dr Surjeet Bhagat and others.
G. R Bhagat was profusely garlanded by the senior leaders. He expressed his gratitude to the party leadership for providing him a chance to serve the people and pledged for strengthening National Conference.
