Despite what a lot of people say, WWE One Night Stand 2007 was a great pay per view. It showcased all three brands in a good light which made the show a success. It was special because for the first in it’s existence all three brands appeared.
The first match of the evening featured Rob Van Dam vs Randy Orton in a stretcher match. It wasn’t as good as past stretcher matches but it was still an all right match. The finish saw Rob Van Dam defeat Randy Orton, only to get knocked unconscious after the match by Randy.
Another match that was pretty good was the steel cage match for the World Heavyweight Championship between Edge and Batista. In my opinion, Edge is one of the smartest wrestlers today who deserves to be world champion. It was actually a pretty good match with a lot of back and forth action. The end saw Edge and Batista both attempt to beat the other out of the cage. Who got out first? None other than Edge who retained the championship.
The next match on my list is the falls count anywhere match between John Cena and The Great Khali. It was for the WWE Heavyweight Championship. This was a good match but I don’t think it should have had the main event slot. Khali really doesn’t have what it takes to be in a main event. In any case, John Cena defeated The Great Khali with the FU to become the only person to ever pin him. John Cena did the same thing with Umaga. Impressive.
Other matches that night included Mr. McMahon vs Bobby Lashley for the ECW Title, The Hardy’s vs Haas/Benjamin, Kane against Mark Henry which was a very good match and a very impressive victory for Mark Henry. We also had a six man tables match, and a very tasty match between Melina and Candice Michelle in a pudding match.
In the end, WWE One Night Stand 2007 was a pretty good Pay Per View that deserves to be seen. I just hope they do it tri branded again next year. Good Work WWE!
