According to a statement given by Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, last Friday, the Mukesh Ambani-led telecom company will be rolling out its much awaited fourth generation (4G) long term evolution (LTE) services via an integrated system.
Declarations of the statement
The statement said that the company is planning to offer smooth and efficient 4G services with the use of LTE in spectrum bands of 800 MHz, 2300 MHz and 1800 MHz with the medium of integrated ecosystem.
The company is also gearing up to establish its telecom network across the entire nation. It feels that the Indian market has been receiving mediocre services. It thus wants to offer its trusted high speed 4G internet connection and efficient communication and digital services to the Indian market. It is aiming to provide the services in sectors like education, finance, healthcare, entertainment and government-citizen interfaces. The company has aimed that, through its services, the citizens should have access to innovative and strengthening digital content, services and applications at any time and any region across the country. It thus wants to lead India towards becoming a global leader in the digital economy.
To achieve this, the organization has made vital progress in setting up its LTE activities. These include content, physical network infrastructure, applications and services, sales and distribution network, systems and processes, etc. The statement further added that Reliance Jio is working with strategic partners who have committed key resources, know-how and global talent to support deployment and testing activities currently underway.
Reliance Jio’s acquisitions
Reliance Jio is the only company to acquire a Unified Licence (UL). Besides, it is the only private organization that has Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum in all the 22 regions of the country. Last year, the company also bagged spectrum in 14 regions across the country in the band of 1800 MHz. In the spectrum auction conducted in March, this year, Reliance Jio was able to gain the right to use spectrum in the bands of 800MHz and 1800 MHz in 13 important areas across the country.
Apart from obtaining pan-India 2300 MHz spectrum, the organization has acquired spectrum in 800 MHz and/or 1800 MHz in 20 regions out of the total 22 circles in India.
Reliance Jio’s total equivalent spectrum footprint was 597.6MHz. This has now increased to 751.1MHz. This includes both uplink and downlink. The increased footprint has made the company stronger and it has emerged as the biggest holder of liberalized spectrum.
Expenditure by Reliance Jio
Reliance Industries has made a commitment worth Rs. 88,000 crores equaling $14 billion of capital for its telecom venture. Besides, Reliance Jio had spent Rs. 10,077.53 crores to acquire spectrum bands of 800 MHz and 1,800 MHz in the March auction.
Kotak Institutional Equities issued a report on 20thApril. It stated that the telecom company has utilized around Rs. 52,400 crores of capital as of 31st March, 2015. Last year, the amount was Rs. 37,800 crores.
Reliance Jio had earlier announced its plans to roll out the 4G services in different phases in 2015.
