Removal of Chief Justice

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Iftikhar Chaudhary is removed from his office by president Parvez Musharaf, on charges of corruption, it was an unprecedented step taken by the president of Pakistan, opposition has criticized president for his action, few lawyers are also agitating, people of Pakistan are least concerned with this issue, even opposition parties were ignored by the people when their leaders came out on streets to hold protest demonstrations against the president. General Parvez Musharaf and Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shaukat Aziz have earned wide range of respect and love within Pakistan, because of their honest and sincere attitude while doing their present jobs, by spreading employment and economic prosperity, both the leaders have done good to themselves, now comparatively prosper people of  Pakistan do not come out on streets to agitate more often, electronic and print media is enjoying unprecedented freedom, due to spread of education traditional agitating political leadership has lost all its credibility, most often criticism from outdated leadership is focused on personalities, hollow slogans and emotional outbursts can be judged easily by people of Pakistan, they just stay calm in such situations where a demagogue try to befool them.

Hearings of corruption charges against former Chief Justice of Pakistan in camera are in process, newly appointed Chief Justice of Pakistan’s Supreme Court Mr. Javed Iqbal has taken suo moto action against those security officials who had mistreated former chief justice Mr. Iftikhar Chaudhary while bringing him to the court of law in Islamabad capital of Pakistan, he has directed the journalists and politicians to abstain from giving their comments on this issue, on a purely legal issue, supporters of former chief justice have tried to restore his position through agitation, it’s a typical Pakistani style of doing things which is not very appealing to the masses now, even on issues like possible US attack on Iran are not gaining any anti US momentum, among educated elite of Pakistan President George W Bush and Prime Minister of Great Britain are enjoying considerable amount of support, in a country like Pakistan where even discussion about fundamental rights guaranteed in constitution are socially not acceptable, and where feudal is having its final say in all matters related to personal lives of the citizens, to expect whole hearted support for sincere efforts of US President regarding promotion of democracy in Middle East, South Asia and elsewhere in third world will be quite unrealistic approach.
