Jammu, October 15 (Scoop News)- Predicting dismemberment of Peoples Democratic Party due to its duplicity and anti people activities, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Tuesday said that the process has begun earlier than expected.
“Those raising their political edifice on the exploitation of the people may flourish for some time but not all the time”, he said while addressing a ceremony held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this evening, held to felicitate Javed Rana on his election as Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council.
Mr Rana said that disillusionment of senior PDP leaders from their leadership speaks of the hollowness of the party that is finally crumbling under its own weight. He said the departure of eight leaders is a trailer of a big picture which will unfold itself much ahead of 2014 elections.
The Provincial President said that 2014 is going to be a crucial year in the State politics in which the premier role of National Conference will become more pronounced. He said the recent developments, especially in the wake of allegations of payoffs by different agencies, has opened up the eyes of the people who have now started differentiating between right and the wrong. He asked has the party cadre to close their rank and file and educate the people about the dirty politics being played by dubious political characters in order to further hidden agenda of communal and disruptive forces. He also cautioned the people against the machinations of the communal and fascist elements, hell bent on vitiating the atmosphere by disturbing peace and harmony ahead of the elections.
Mr Rana reiterated that National Conference will emerge with flying colours in the ensuing elections, given the support it enjoys in all the three regions of the State. “Being a cadre-based party, National Conference has its presence in every nook and corner of the State that makes it the first choice of the people”, he said and referred to the report card of the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The focus on inclusive development and efforts being made to satiate the political aspirations of the people have been reassuring factors, he maintained.
The Provincial President congratulated Javed Rana on his election as the Deputy Chairman and hoped that he will meet the expectations of the people and the Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah and the Working President Omar Abdullah, who have reposed great trust in him .
Speaking on the occasion, Sr Vice President, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and MLA Surjeet Singh Slathia exuded confidence that the party will emerge as a largest winning side in the Jammu region, like the Kashmir Valley. “We are confident to win maximum number of seats given the wave blowing across the region”, he said.
Mr Slathia urged the party functionaries to gear up their units and prepare for the biggest democratic exercise next year in a big way. He sought dissemination of the programmes and policies of the government in areas of their jurisdiction with special focus on the achievements of the Omar Abdullah led government.
Referring to the panic gripping the opponents over the expanded mass base of National Conference, Mr Slathia said the NC functionaries will have to sustain the momentum by working for the people with a sense of commitment.
In his address, Tsestin Namgyal, MLA Nobra hailed the election of Mr Rana to the coveted post and hoped that he will carry forward the mission of steering Jammu and Kashmir to new vistas of progress. He said his election will give new impetus to democratic functioning of the highest legislative body of the State and wished him success in his new role.
Vice President Rattan Lal Gupta elaborated upon the policies and programmes of the party and said National Conference will continue to perform its defined role for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed exhorted the workers to fan out all over and ensure that the problems of people are mitigated in a time bound manner.
Provincial President Women Wing, Vijay Laxmi Dutta highlighted the role of National Conference in women empowerment and said it is because of the pioneering role of the party that women are excelling in politics as also in other spheres of activity across the State.
Bimla Luthra, MLA urged the functionaries of the party to further expand their out-reach and make National Conference a vibrant organization, depicting the urges and aspirations of the people.

Expressing his gratitude to the party leadership and millions of National Conference workers for the honour bestowed upon him, Deputy Chairman Mr Javed Rana assured that he will relentlessly work for the welfare and well being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said he has been working as a dedicated worker for decades to strengthen the movement launched by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah for development, prosperity and progress of the State.
