Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda today released Rs. 6.75 crore out of Contributory Police Welfare Fund in favour of the dependents of 114 police personnel who expired during service. The beneficiaries also include legal heirs of 8 police personnel who laid down their lives while fighting militancy in the state during current year.
DGP said that several measures have been initiated for the welfare of the families and dependents of police personnel. He made a special mention of the efforts made to ensure that wards of police personnel receive quality education.
Highlighting the role of Police in maintaining the law and order and protecting the life and property of the people, DGP advised all the ranks particularly the field functionaries to maintain cordial relations with the public and earn their good will.
He also released ex-gratia relief to the tune of Rs. 77 lakh in favour of the next of kin of 38 police martyrs who laid their lives during militancy related incidents in the state. Additional ex-gratia relief of Rs.54 lakh has been sanctioned for 18 police personnel while Rs. 4.60 lakh have been sanctioned in favour of 28 police personnel injured during militancy operations across the state.
