In a documentary broadcast last year, highly respected FBI counter-intelligence chief Frank Figliuzzi claimed a sexy Russian spy by the name of Anna Chapman got “ close to a top level official in the Obama Administration.”
See article: “Russian agent Anna Chapman ‘came close to catching top Obama official in a honey trap,’ FBI counter intelligence chief claims” :http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2124371/Russian-agent-Anna-Chapman-came-close-catching-Obama-official-honey-trap-U-S-spy-catcher-claims.html#ixzz1r0EwMynx.).
Figliuzzi didn’t name names, but the spy catcher indicated it did prompt the decision by the FBI to move in and make an arrest before she could ensnare the official in a “honey-trap”.
Miss Chapman (Anna Vasil’yevna Kushchyenko) was “very close to seducing a sitting member of the Obama administration”, he said.
In espionage terminology, a “honey-trap” is one of several ways to refer to a recruitment of an asset that involves sexual seduction, usually ending in blackmail or coercion. Coercion is the practice of persuading someone to do something by using force or threats.
Mr Figliuzzi told the Channel 4 documentary that the spy in question got “closer and closer to higher and higher ranking leadership…” Adding that “she got close enough to (actually) disturb us.”
“We were becoming very concerned. They were getting close enough to a sitting U.S. cabinet member that we thought we could no longer allow this to continue.”, he said.
Mr Figliuzzi did not disclose the identity of the official targeted by Miss Chapman, because to do so would be politically embarrassing to the President of the United States.
It is not known if Figliuzzi feared retaliation if he just came out with the name, or if he is genuinely protecting the official – who stands as sort of a national security risk at this point since he was allegedly targeted by the sexy Russian foreign intelligence agent.
It should be noted that in an ABC news report, an FBI agent affirmed that a Russian female spy got close to a cabinet member but it wasn’t the beautiful auburn haired Anna Chapman, but “Cynthia Murphy” instead?
According to court documents relating to the spies’ arrest, Murphy had been in contact with a certain fundraiser and “personal friend” of Hillary Clinton, who later took the office of Secretary of State in January 2009 (see article: Russian Fem Spy Spooked US, But It Wasn’t Anna Chapman http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/russian-fem-spy-cynthia-murphy-spooked-us-honeypot/story?id=16061957 ).
Question: “Was Hillary Clinton the target? We just don’t know.” “Was it sexy Anna Chapman or Cynthia Murphy -or both – who got close to cabinet officials?”
How exactly the sexy spy, or spies, in this case managed to compromise the high level cabinet official remains a mystery at this point, even today but the fact that one or both of them did did is highly disturbing.
The Executive Office of the President or EOP, which is overseen by the White House Chief of Staff, plays a critical role in assisting the President’s work.
The EOP consists of 13 entities, including the Council of Economic Advisers, and the Office of Management and Budget.
These offices provide indispensable support for the President, including conception, implementation, to communication of all his policies.
“The Cabinet”, as it is called, includes the Vice President of the United States and the heads of 15 executive departments — the Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs, as well as the Attorney General. So theoretically speaking it could have been any one of them who was compromised in this case.
The cabinet include the following:
Vice President of the United States
Joseph R. Biden
Department of State
Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton
Department of the Treasury
Secretary Timothy F. Geithner
Department of Defense
Secretary Leon E. Panetta
Department of Justice
Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr.
Department of the Interior
Secretary Kenneth L. Salazar
Department of Agriculture
Secretary Thomas J. Vilsack
Department of Commerce
Secretary John E. Bryson
Department of Labor
Secretary Hilda L. Solis
Department of Health and Human Services
Secretary Kathleen Sebelius
Department of Housing and Urban Development
Secretary Shaun L.S. Donovan
Department of Transportation
Secretary Ray LaHood
Department of Energy
Secretary Steven Chu
Department of Education
Secretary Arne Duncan
Department of Veterans Affairs
Secretary Eric K. Shinseki
Department of Homeland Security
Secretary Janet A. Napolitano
The following positions have the status of Cabinet-rank:
White House Chief of Staff
Environmental Protection Agency
Administrator Lisa P. Jackson
Office of Management & Budget
Jeffrey Zients, Acting Director
United States Trade Representative
Ambassador Ronald Kirk
United States Ambassador to the United Nations
Ambassador Susan Rice

Secretary Karen G. Mills
“The revelation by the FBI chief of counter-intelligence about the targeting of a cabinet level official in the White House by Anna Chapman is most disturbing and contradicts earlier media reports that the Russian spies were bumbling idiots who were largely ineffective in what they did and said”, said Will Dupree of Charlotte, N.C. who studies espionage techniques used by foreign intelligence agencies in the U.S. and around the world, particularly the Russians.
Dupree added that besides Russia, China also engages in the use of ‘honey traps’ that target officials at the federal, state and even local municipal level of government.
Because of the nature of “honey-traps” and the obsession of this culture on glamour and sex, spies like Anna Chapman become instant celebrities as it were.
Chapman was eventually traded in a secretive spy swap along with many others, that made headlines around the world.
Today she is a high priced fashion model in Russia, who stars on various TV shows and is considered a hero of the Motherland by the Russian people, including such prominent individuals as President of Russia Vladimir Putin- himself a former KGB spy.
