Sachin Tendulkar to be honored with Bharat Ratna
Sachin Tendulkar who today for the last time walked into the stadium as a cricketer, has been paid greatest tribute by Government of India. He has been awarded the Bharat Ratna which is the highest civilian award in India.
Today, 40 year old in an emotional finale said goodbye to professional cricket in Wankhede stadium after playing his 200th test match against West Indies. Yesterday, in a press release Sachin was applauded by none other than UN secretary Ban Ki Moon. He was also named as the man of the moment by the prestigious ‘Time’ magazine.
In a brief statement, Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson Venu Rajamony said, “The President has awarded the Bharat Ratna to Tendulkar, who retired from the international cricket today.”
