Jammu,December 29, (Scoop News)- Minister for Planning and Development Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today assailed Bharatiya Janata Party for raking up frivolous issues ahead of the 2014 elections with malicious intent of polarizing the society.
Addressing a public meeting at Trilokpur Santra Morh here this afternoon, Mr Sadhotra said it has become trait of the BJP to raise Mandir issue and revocation of Article 370 only during the election times in a bid to hoodwink the public opinion and incite passions.
“BJP should remember that their tactics will not succeed in a state like Jammu and Kashmir that has always rejected the disruptive and communal forces”, he said and recalled the glorious role played by Sher-e-Kashmri Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah in binding the people of different faiths and regions together. He said this spirit will continue to guide the people, who have in fact shown it many a time when the vested interests spread their malicious tentacles in order to divide the society and disrupt the peace.
The Minister urged the people to remain vigilant against the machinations of the parties like BJP and PDP, the main agenda of which is to polarise the situation and benefit from division in the society. He said their main plank during the ensuing elections will be to promote such an atmosphere. He appealed the people to remain united and frustrate their designs while maintaining age old tradition of mutual brotherhood and communal harmony. He lambasted the PDP and BJP for exploiting the sentiments of innocent and peace loving people of the state for their petty political gains.
Referring to the developmental scenario, Mr Sadhotra said that Jammu and Kashmir has traversed a long way towards inclusive development of all the three regions of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir. He said several revolutionary measures have been taken under the stewardship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to empower the people and satiate their political and economic aspirations.
The Minister enumerated the measures initiated to combat corruption and for bringing transparency in the functioning of administration, on both physical and financial sectors. He said the strengthening of Accountability Commission and placement of its Chairman and members is yet another achievement of the Government towards transparency.
Mr Sadhotra exhorted the people to benefit from various schemes launched under various innovative programmes for their economic emancipation.
Responding to the local demands, put forth by the representatives of the people, Mr Sadhotra said these will be examined at appropriate level for earnest redressal.
Earlier the minister welcomes the several youths of Marh block for joining National Conference to strengthening the hands of Omar led Govt. by providing their services to the Govt during their works to benefit the locals of the state.
