‘More then three hundred people are killed in sectarian violence broke out in Kurram agency on 16th of November 2007, curfew is still imposed in Parachinar and Army is deployed in and around Parachinar capital of Kurram agency, through council of elders peace negotiations between both warring Shia and Sunni sect people are underway to achieve permanent peace in Kurram agency,’ sources have said.
Section 144 is imposed in Kohat district which is at a distance of hundred and twenty miles from Kuram agency , pillion riding and exhibition of weapons are also banned in the district. According to report issued by interior ministry Kohat district is also included among the list of sensitive districts, so during Islamic month of Muharam to ameliorate law and order situation in Kohat imposition of section 144, ban on pillion riding and weapon exhibition, closure of all the weapon shops, ban on wall chalking and illegitimate use of loudspeakers and ban on public meetings are the steps taken by district administration of Kohat.To ensure peace during month of Muharam security forces cooperation is acquired, on all entry and exit routes of Kohat check posts of police and para military forces are established, installation of secret cameras in these check posts is underway, no person without showing his identity card will be allowed to enter in Kohat, heavy contingent of FC and police force is deployed on all the entry and exit points of Kohat.
While addressing a gathering of Shia and Sunni elders of Kohat district in Kohat police club ASP Headquarter Waqas Hassan has said that followers of all sects shall strive to promote peace during month of Muharam and shall discourage those elements bent upon promoting sectarian violence.
