Baltal (Ganderbal), July 18, (Scoop News)-Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, along with senior officers of civil and police administration today visited Shri Amarnath Yatra base camp at Baltal and took stock of the situation that has arisen due to some unpleasant incident occurred between the service providers there.
The Minister interacted with the officials of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), langerwalas and poniwalas and obtained the necessary feedback about the incident. He urged the service providers to maintain peace and order to ensure smooth yatra. He also directed the police and civil administration to keep close watch on the situation to ensure smooth conduct of yatra and safety of yatries and all service providers. The Minister also directed the administration to enquire into the matter and take stern action against the culprits as per the law.
Those accompanied the Minister at Baltal included, Principal Secretary to Governor (CEO SASB), Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, senior police officers.
Meanwhile 11,075 devotees paid obeisance before the Ice Lingam today. With this, a total of 2,76,573 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the Holy Cave since the commencement of Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
the 22nd batch of pilgrims today left for the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas from here.
As many as 1,765 pilgrims, including 1244 men, 409 women and 20 children, left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu in a cavalcade of 62 vehicles at 4:25 AM, police said.
The convoy has already crossed Kud on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and would reach their destinations at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps by this evening, they said.
With today’s batch, a total of 41,023 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the Amarnath shrine.
