Leh,May 09 (Scoop News)- The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh in collaboration with Tourism Department Jammu and Kashmir is organizing the Annual Singge Khababs Sindhu Darshan Festival from 12th to 14th June 2015.
Meanwhile the Chairman/CECLAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar, today in a letter to Chief Minister J&K Mufti Sayeed requested to grace the Annual Singge Khababs Sindhu Darshan festival as the Chief Guest. The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh in collaboration with Tourism Department Jammu and Kashmir is organizing the Annual Singge Khababs Sindhu Darshan Festival from 12th to 14th June 2015.
It may be mentioned that Sindhu Darshan Festival is a celebration of River Sindhu (Indus) ,held every year on full moon day (on Guru Purnima) in month of June at Leh, in Ladakh.It originates from the Mansarovar in Tibet.
It was first started in the October, 1997 and continues to be held every year since then, attracting large number of foreign as well domestic tourists.
As part of the celebrations, various groups from different states in India bring water from the other mighty rivers in the country in earthen pots and immerse these pots in the Sindhu, thereby mingling the river water with other waters of the land.
The main reason behind the celebration of Sindhu Darshan Festival is to endorse the Indus River (Sindhu River) as an icon of the communal harmony and unity of India. The festival is also a symbolic salutation to the courageous soldiers of the country.
