Four students at Council Rock High School North in Newtown, PA were hospitalized after taking a mind-altering herbal remedy called SNURF that they ordered online.
The first of four 10th grade boys was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital after a school resource officer called an ambulance when he learned that the boy was in an altered state. Later in the day, three other boys showed the same symptoms and were taken to the hospital. One of them turned over a package of small, pink pills labeled as SNURF, saying that they bought them online.
Police do not know what SNURF is but have launched an investigation to find out. Charges might be filed depending on their discoveries. The Newtown schools issued a statement that reads, "from the information on the packaging, we understand that SNURF is an herbal supplement with mood altering properties. We strongly recommend that anyone in possession of these pills dispose of them immediately."
