Social Media and the Election

With the Internet and social media at an all time high and political confidence at an all time low. What effect did social media and Web 2.0 practices have on this election?

I have read more posts on private blogs than the ones from the experts. Does this mean that I know more or less? Do I agree with others because that is what the majority believes? OR did I use the internet to say what I am really feeling, asking questions I wouldn’t normally ask?

I know that I personally visited the Presidential websites one time each. The rest of the information that I gathered to make this decision was online- in the form of Facebook, blogs, opinion polls and other social media sources.

From who is Sarah Palin and why her as a nominee?

What does Obama say about the economy?

Who cares about "Joe the Pumber"?

Do small business owners really deserve a tax break?

All these answers and more can now be found within the social network that I visit everyday. I play games, respond to wall posts, post pictures and comment on all things social web’by…

So how did the Web 2.0 affect this election?
