The Ministry Of Health has already selected a standby Medical Team comprising of Medical Specialists,Nurses . Midwives and other Health Workers to send Tsunami hit Japan for treating the wounded people upon a request of Japanese Government the Ministry Sources said today.
President Mahinda Rajapaksha had yesterday instructed the Treasury Secretary to send a Medical and Rescue Teams for Japan to help Tsunami Victims.
Ministry has also stated that if the Japanese Government has requested can also send a Team Of local Epidemiologists to Japan as well to help the health authorities there to prevent spreading of Water Borne Infectious Diseases.Sri Lankan Epidemiologists were successfully able to minimize the spreading of water borne infectious diseases in Tsunami hit Sri Lankan coastal areas after the massive Tsunami Waves hit Sri Lanka in December 2004 the Ministry has stressed.
