CHITRAL: Complete shutter down strike continues on second day at Chitral on the call of trade union Chitral. A public meeting was also held here at protest camp PIA square Chitral. Addressing to the public meeting president Trade Union Haji Habib Hussain Mughul said that supply of electricity has been suspended for the last one-month but no elected representative taken action for its restoration. As a result not only general public but especially traders community suffering badly and facing great loss due to no electricity. Through a unanimous resolution they demanded from the federal government and minister of water and power for posting out of technical staff of Peshawar electricity supply company and hydro power station from Chitral by giving the deadline of 24 hours otherwise they warned that stern action would be taken against them and they would be pushed out by force. The meeting was presided over by Habib Hussain Mughual also participated by Bazar committee. They said that trade union had already informed the administration and government through their banners and notice pasted in Chitral markets and they had warned of strike if supply of electricity not restored. But the government on their notice they alleged took no notice and now they are compelled to close their shops and observing shutter down strike for three days. They gave the deadline for restoration of electricity until 5th March otherwise they will take more stern action against Pesco and administration. They alleged that diesel generators were also out of order due to apathy of Pesco staff. A large number of general public also were present at protest camp of traders. Security forces of Chitral scouts and Chitral police patrolling in their vehicles at Chitral to overcome any untoward situation. Meanwhile District Officer Revenue and Estate Akbar Jalal also visited protest camp and meet cabinet of Trade union who tried to persuaded them to ended their strike but cabinet of trade union refused to end their strike and warned for continuation their strike until fulfillment of their genuine demand.
