A 13 year old student attending Bethel Town All Age School was stabbed to death by a student on the school compound, shortly after classes were dismissed for the day.
The dead teenager was identified as Kenya Kerr, a grade seven student who resided at York in that community.
Reports are that a 14-year-old student, also from the same community, was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The 14 year old is currently a student of Cambridge High School in St. James. It is believed that the killing had its genesis in a confrontation between Kerr and another schoolmate last week, who is said to be related to the accused boy.
According to the police, about 2:15 pm, the accused boy went to the school and attacked Kerr as he left for home.
Kerr was reportedly stabbed in the chest and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay.
The accused boy is expected to be charged with murder.
