New Delhi, March 16, (Scoop News)- The Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) condemns ominous moves to post security personnel in the Lok Sabha Press Gallery ostensibly to keep a watch on journalists covering the proceedings in the House. This, we feel is tantamount to snooping on journalists and interfering in their professional duties, said in a statement.
DUJ in a statement said that this is not limited to the Press Gallery alone. It has been reported that even in places where normal access is granted to the press, curbs and checks have increased. In fact there we have also received information that a journalists a tab is being kept on them in the Central Hall of parliament.
Such surveillance is uncalled for and will not be tolerated. The DUJ calls upon the entire media fraternity to rise in protest against this illegal shadowing of the media.
A letter is also being sent to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan, protesting against this.
