Survey Reveals Dangerous Levels of Fluoride in Rural India’s Water

Bangalore : The Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj released  a participatory survey conducted across rural Karnataka titled " A Survey of Household Water and Sanitation".

The quality of water is a cause for alarm with 60% of water containing fluoride in excess of the permissible level. An alarming 72% of people in rural Karnataka are compelled to defecate in the open. A total of 2,114 water samples across State were tested during the survey and 60% of water had fluoride levels beyond the permissible  1 ppm.38% had bacteriological contamination and 20% had more than the permissible nitrate levels.
