Tomorrow (November 30) Sweden celebrate first advent.
Traditionally for the church,is Advent a time of preparation and anticipation for Jesus´ birth.
Advent begins fourth Sunday before Christmas Eve.
Here is a recipe for Saffron buns,a typical Swedish coffee bread in December.
Ingredients: 50 grams of yeast,100 grams of butter,5 deciliter milk,1 gram of saffron,2 deciliter sugar,17 deciliter wheat flour,1.5 deciliter raisins,1/2 teaspoon salt.Painting: 2 eggs.
Melt the butter in a saucepan.Put in the milk and warm to hot finger.
Crumb the yeast and add saffron and raisins.
Pour over the dough liquid and stir.
Add salt,sugar and most of the flour.Work the dough smooth.
Add over a towel and let ferment about 40 minutes.
Work the dough smooth on a breadboard with flour,and bake the buns.
Put the buns on a butter bakestone,or use parchment paper.
Turn the oven on 225 degrees Celsius (437 degrees Fahrenheit),cover the buns with a towel and allow them to ferment in 30 minutes.
Whip up the eggs,and brush the buns with it.
Bake the buns in the middle of the oven,5-8 minutes.
