Entire Northern India is in the grip of severe
cold. The temperature touched zero in
Punjab at many places.
Amritsar was coldest at zero degree. Leh,
in Jammu & Kashmir made residents shiver at
minus -19 degrees celcius. Two people
died of cold in Uttranchal.
Delhi temp. falled to 5.2 degree celcius,
the coldest of this season yet. Thick fog
engulfed Delhi making the visibility almost 2
feet.
Heavy snowfall was witnessed in upper
ranges of Jammu & Kashmir, Uttranchal and
Himachal Pradesh leading to cold waves in
the adjoining plains of Punjab, Haryana and
Delhi. Srinagar was at 4.4 followed by Jammu
at 6.8.
Kazza in Lahaul-Spiti temp. was minus -11.4
and many parts of the Spiti River were frozen
to hard ice. Rohtak, Haryana also shivered at
zero.
