The Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand headed by General Thaweep Jantharoj have disqualified the RP boxers from participating the Beijing Olympics qualifying tournament in Bangkok on Jan. 24 to Feb. 3 for failing to meet the Dec.20, 2007 deadline for registration of entries.
The Thai official argued that their decision to bar the RP boxers from competing in Thailand was not in retaliation to the controversial protest the Philippines raised in SEA Games that was held last year. But Thailand is clearly on the move to shame the RP boxers.
The Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines however insisted that Thailand should not be the one to order any disqualification but the International Amateur Boxing Association has the final say if the RP boxers deserved to be de-listed from the Olympics qualifying tournament.
Thailand this early is in full force to derail the Philippines’ dream of winning gold medals in Beijing. There‘s something wrong going on in Thailand’s attitude towards the Philippines. Their discriminative views on how to rigged RP’s participation in the tournament is an outright manipulation of things favorable to their own egotistical behavior.
The Beijing Olympics is only months away and the RP boxers are already in serious training only to be disqualified by the unreasonable Thai officials. The RP boxers are hoping to win medals in Beijing but Thailand is playing as an arrogant spoiler.
