Every child, male or female has the right to be respected and treated with dignity and honor. The family, society, state and government are to safe guard and protect their dignity and honor. Sexual assault and the exploitation of children is a crime against humanity and is a violation of the very nature human dignity and personality. It is explicitly a violation of human rights and human law. This social misconduct is equal only to animal behavior, which rises not from human rationality but from animal instincts of emotional and sexual urges. People with such attitudes will never regard girls and women as persons deserving respect and dignity but as a commodity to satiate their physical hungers and emotional thirsts. A countless number of girls being used in this fashion on a daily basis but their plight never see the light of justice. They remain in the dark due to shame that befalls them. This shame affects the entire family. To assist such girls there must be in place specific strategies that will address the problems they face and the horror they live with because of the tragic experience they have occurred. To remedy such situation and to help the unfortunate victims of the vicious emotions and desires for sexual gratification of the others is the service of the rehabilitation centre Jesus Fraternity/ Prison Ministry of India. The Jesus Fraternity, instilling dignity and honor in those who have lost these basic values of life and human personality regardless of their sex, color and faith. The principle focus of this catholic voluntary organization is the correction, reformation and rehabilitation of those who spend their life in prison across the state, the rehabilitation of their families, the victims of various crimes and atrocities in the society, and dignified growth of the children of prisoners from economically poor families and children form disintegrated and troublesome families. The Jesus Fraternity also attempts to serve girls who have been misused and sexually exploited by others. It has so far rehabilitated over 500 girls and many have successfully married. The girls are allowed to remain in the centre from six to one year or longer depending upon their ability to accept and cope with the experience they have gone through. They are given opportunities and facilities during their stay in the centre to develop their talents and capacities through various progarmmes aimed at their holistic and integral development. After their stay in the centre they are encouraged to join their family if they wish to and if the family is welcoming. If not, they are helped to find their jobs or given jobs through the centre in which case the salaries of these girls will be collected by the center and deposited in their personal accounts.
