The 2012 edition of the New York Forum, a yearly meeting of political and economic leaders organized by Richard Attias, was focused on two main topics: the economic relationships between China and the United States and the strategic aspects of immigration in the global economy.
Regarding China and the United States, the main message delivered by the participants of the New York forum is that both countries have to build a win-win relationship.
Richard Attias stated that “a positive attitude is the key and the only way to achieve a win-win partnership between China and the US. A positive attitude which is closely linked to the growing interdependence of the two superpowers”.
A point of view that Chinese Consul General in New-York and Li Ruogu, the CEO of the Export-Import Bank of China, who were attending the Forum on May 22, shared with Attias.
All agreed to say that this win-win relationship is still in progress. Obvious differences between the two countries don’t make it easy to build a peaceful and confident relationship.
As the Chinese businessman Shi Wang said, not without humor: “even tough we sleep in the same bed we have different dreams. China is changing so fast even students studying abroad if they haven’t been home for 6 months wont know what’s going on”.
Regarding immigration, another main topic of the New York Forum, attendants will remember Michael Bloomberg’s speech. Big Apple’s mayor insisted that immigration has a strategic role for American economy and shouldn’t be sidelined for political reasons as it is lately according to him.
Ricardo Salinas, the founder of the Mexican giant Grupo Salinas founder, said that immigrants bring with them inventiveness and entrepreneurial energy precious for their new country.
