KARACHI: There has been some progress in connection with seat adjustment between Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F)and Pakistan Peoples Party.This was stated by Secretary General JUI (F), Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidery while talking to Geo TV.He said in the first phase JUI will field its candidate from Larkana while PPP will nominate its candidate from DI Khan. Nomination papers of 12,443 candidates for 1,059 seats
ISLAMABAD: Nomination papers of 12,443 candidates for 1,059 seats in the national assembly and the provincial assemblies throughout the country were accepted – 8,651 papers for provincial assemblies and 3,792 for the national assembly.Papers rejected for the national assembly were 237 and for the provincial assemblies were 679.Appeals can be filed against the acceptance or the rejection of nomination papers by December 7 and the last date for decision on them is December 14.

ISLAMABAD: Secretary General, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Amin Javed Thursday said the lawyers will reject the Charter of Demands, if the political parties fail to include restoration of sacked judges and the Constitutions in it.Addressing a press conference here at Punjab Bar Council, Amin Javed said freedom of media should also be demanded in the Charter of Demands because real restoration of true democracy can be achieved through independent judiciary and media.He said the political parties will be also be held accountable if they failed to keep on top the demand regarding restoration of the Constitutions and the judiciary.Action will also be taken against those lawyers who appear before the judges who took oath under PCO.

Peshawar High Court Bar Association has rejected the charter of demands from APDM and ARD on not including the demand for reinstatement
PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court Bar Association has rejected the charter of demands from APDM and ARD on not including the demand for reinstatement of the sacked judges in the charter.The lawyer leaders severely criticized the charter of demands in the general body meeting of the association.
They said that the demand for restoration of the deposed judges was not included in the charter.emanding the charter of demands, the lawyers demanded from the political parties to include the demand for restoration of judiciary and sacked judges.They said that a country-wide protest would be made if the demand for restoration of the deposed judges is not included in the charter.The lawyer leaders said that the returning of Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto was made possible only due to the lawyers’ movement.This was announced in the meeting to continue the courts’ boycott up to December 17.

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Information Minister, Nisar A. Memon here on Thursday said "charter of demand" by APDM and PPP will be given due consideration.Talking to media after a ceremony, the minister said that Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz sharif were allowed to return for the sake of fair, free and transparent elections in the country.
Mr Memon reiterated that emergency would be lifted on Dec 16 and that elections would be held on January 08, 2007.
