From keylong we undertake another pilgrimage to Triloki Nath. To Udaipur via Tandi and we have to leave it at Udaipur where we cross the Chandra–Bhaga River and trek some 3 kilometers to reach Triloki Nath.
This is a picturesque spot overlooking the Chandra Bhaga River which is better known as the Chenab in Punjab and Kashmir. Triloki is a Buddhist place of pilgrimage and a big fair is held here annually during the month of August. The monastery is said to have been founded by Guru Padma Sambhava, the great master who had originally introduced Buddhism into Tibet adjacent lands.
In the return from Triloki Nath, we travel eastwards along the Chandra River and cross the Kunzum pass, which is nearly 5,000 meters high. We obtain a magnificent view of the snow clad mountains on either side of the pass.
Descending o the other side of the pass, we enter the enchanting valley of Spiti which is a veritable Shangri-la. The first habitation we come across in the Spiti valley is Losar, which is a picturesque hamlet set amidst barren wildness. There are a number of villages on either side of the Spiti River.
