Jammu, May 01 (Scoop News)-Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Cultural and Languages today organized a function in memory of Late Sarvanand Koul Premi on his 25th death anniversary at K. L. Saigal Hall.
Union Minister of State, (Independent charge) Development of North Eastern Region, Prime Minister’s office, Ministry of personal, Public grievances and Pension, Department of Atomic energy and Department of Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.
MLA, Jammu West, Sat Sharma, was the Guest of Honour. Swami Kumar Ji, Rajinder Premi and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL were also present in the presidium.
Paying rich tributes to Late Sarvanand Koul, Dr. Jatinder Singh said that the writer was always connected at the grassroot level and worked tirelessly for upliftment of downtrodden and weaker sections of the society particularly weaker students during his entire life.
Late Sarvanand has written 18 literary books in his life and also translated the Bhagwat Gita and Ramyana in Kashmiri language.
Dr. Jatinder Singh said that India is known for its unity amidst diversity of religion, region and culture while exhorting that we have to strengthen the bonds of unity and brotherhood to take the Country on the path of progress. He said that the State of Jammu and Kashmir has overcome a long period of turmoil and ushering into a new era of peace and development.
He said that as a poet and writer Sarvanand Koul contributed in the field of Kashmiri, Urdu, English and Hindi literature and spread the message of national integration, patriotism and humanity. He said that the community concerned with late Sarvanand Koul Premi in particular and society in general should follow the messages of the great writer with conviction and courage.
Earlier, floral tributes were also paid by Dr. Jitendra Singh and other dignitaries to the legendary writer.
On the occasion, a musical tribute was also paid by presenting Shaloks from Bhagwat Geeta by Swami Kumar Ji and Bhajans from Ravi Bhan, Shweta Saproo, Monika Sharma, Neha and Shiv. Rajiv on Tabla and Rajat on Synth were the accompanists. The programme was composed by Ravi Bhan.
Among others G.R Hasrat Gadda, Ashwani Charangoo, J.L Saroori, Dr. Rajinder Tickoo, A.K Naaz, Avtar Hugami were also present.
