In a TV debate, on a private channel, the participants , Rustam Shah Mohmand, former ambassador and Shamshad Ahmed Khan, former foreign secretary, spoke about the present political and cross border situation of Pakistan.
They told the media that President Musahharaf’s policies have brought the country on the brink of confrontation and also the war on terror is being fought inside Pakistan, which resulted in shape of the killing of civilians, either the suicide bombings or the cross border strikes by the US forces.
They also urged the present democratic setup, president Asif Zaradri to review the policies of the previous governments and there should be a debate in the parliament about the level of cooperation with US, in the war on terror, because we can not afford this war any more and we can not find with our own people in the areas like Swat valley and tribal areas.
On the other hand, New York says today that US intends to intensify the cross border strikes in to Pakistan in the coming days, which has created uncertainty in the present political situation.
When we talk about Afghanistan, almost 60 % of the total area is under the control of the taliban insurgents, on the other hand, ISAAF, US & NATO, fully armed with sophisticated weapons could not cope with the insurgents and the insurgency is increasing, they also termed the present war, dismaying and ineffectual, and it is the time to review the policies and limits of cooperation, for the parliament because Pakistan has suffered greater loss from it.
