Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s Team, Falconets, is in great shape to pick the three points against opponents New Zealand, as the fourth FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup begins in the South American nation of Chile on Wednesday.
Falconets opens its campaign against the Young Ferns at the Coquimbo Stadium in the north of the country, where it will also take on England on Saturday, before its clash with the host, Chile, in Temuco on Wednesday next week.
Barrister Musa Amadu, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Deputy General Secretary, who is coordinating the team’s participation at the tournament, said on Tuesday afternoon: "The girls are in good shape. They have been training seriously since they arrived here from Brazil and look sharp in all departments.
"They are presently relaxing but they have a 45-minute training session at the match venue by 5p.m. Tuesday." He said the girls have talked about crossing the group stage hurdle first and then focusing on the trophy.
Nigeria takes on New Zealand at 3p.m. Chile time on Wednesday, which is 7p.m. in Nigeria.
