Victoria Osteen, the wife of television minister Joel Osteen, goes to trial today to face a lawsuit filed by Sandra Brown, a Continental Airlines flight attendant.
The lawsuit stems from an incident that took place two years ago aboard a Continental flight from Houston to Vail, Colorado. Witnesses say that Victoria Osteen asked the flight attendants to clean up a spill in her seat. When they did not respond quickly enough, Osteen became violent and "shoved, grabbed and pushed" the attendants. Court documents say Osteen elbowed Sandra Brown while trying to enter the airplane’s cockpit. Osteen and her family were removed from the flight and fined $3,000 by the FAA for interfering with a flight crew member.
Victoria Osteen is known as a peaceful woman and "perfect" spouse to her husband, the leader of Houston’s 60,000-member Lakewood Church, the largest in the city. Sandra Brown is suing Victoria Osteen for 10 percent of her net worth for medical expenses, damage to her faith and trauma.
