Accoding to PRO,Defence Jammu said that Tthe event was organised with a view to creating awareness about various rehabilitation and welfare schemes launched by the Central and state governments and by the Army for Veer Naris and to provide redressal to their grievances. Madhuri Choudhary, as the chief guest, inaugurated the event and presented gifts to all Veer Naris.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that this was an occasion to pay homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. She assured the Veer Naris that the Army, through its schemes and organisations like the FWO would take all possible measures in rehabilitating the Veer Naris and ensuring that all benefits due to them are provided swiftly.
A medical & dental camp was also established on the occasion with specialist medical facilities and medicines. Representatives of various offices like Pension Board and BHEC also interacted with the Veer Naris to provide awareness on important issues like govt jobs, employment/self employment opportunities, educational awareness etc.
The FWO was formally established in 1966 as a support group for the Army wives and children. The organization takes care of ‘Veer Naris,’ one of its main goals with focus on providing assistance in obtaining and investing rightful financial emoluments, assistance in job procurement for ‘Veer Naris’ and their wards and periodic interaction to monitor their well being.
