Warid Telecom offers international roaming services to the Bangladeshi devotees who travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Holy Hajj this year.
Under the latest offer, any Warid postpaid customers having an international credit card will be able to enjoy reduced security deposit and less service charge for availing the international roaming facility during the Hajj.
In this regard, Warid Telecom signed an agreement with United Commercial Bank Ltd (UCBL) recently, under which all international credit card holders of the bank will be able to enjoy international roaming facility by paying Tk 4,000 as security deposit during Hajj. Other international credit card holders will also be able to subscribe international roaming service by paying Tk 5,000 as security deposit.
Currently a Warid subscriber requires paying Tk, 10,000 as security deposit to avail international roaming services.
Under the agreement, UCBL will also issue international credit cards at a discounted rate in favour of Warid subscribers.
During the campaign period, all Warid international roaming subscribers will be able to enjoy the roaming service at reduced charges during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, Warid Telecom authorities said: “We are delighted to announce the international roaming facilities at a discounted service charge to hajj pilgrims. We hope this will help them keep in constant touch with their families back home.”
Warid Telecom, a subsidiary of UAE-based Abu Dhabi Group, launched its commercial operation in Bangladesh in May 10, 2007 as the sixth the mobile phone operator. Within one year, the company became fourth largest operator by acquiring some 3.5 million subscribers through spreading its network to all the 64 districts. Warid Telecom has also expanded its International Roaming Services to 175 operators across 95 countries.
