World Expo: Kia Seeks Support For Korea’s Bid

 

President of KIA Motors, Mr Moons Lee, has called on Nigeria to support Korea’s bid as the draw for the hosting right for the World Expo 2012 draws near.

Lee made the call when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Ahmed Bichi, in his office in Abuja.

According to Lee, Korea counts on Nigeria’s support to clinch the hosting rite which will provide the opportunity to showcase latest technological development of Korea in the last few years.

Korea and Nigeria , he said, have a lot in common that truly can lead to a blossoming relationship.

Mr. Lee said Nigeria is blessed with natural, human, land and mineral resources, which through bilateral cooperation with Korea could be developed for the benefit of both countries.

With technological assistance from Korea, Nigeria Mr. Lee believes, would achieve the ambition of becoming the one of the 20 largest economies in the World by year 2020.

Mr. Ochi C. Achinivu, Director of Trade, Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry who received Mr. Lee and his delegation on behalf of the Minister of State told the visitors that Nigeria was willing to cooperate with Korea in the development of the oil and gas sector since much material abounds for petrochemical industries.

As a top industrial nation, Mr. Achinivu said Korea could deploy her experienced engineers and technicians to offer technical and training programmes for the development of the oil and gas sector. According to him, "Nigeria has the raw materials and Korea has the technology."

A draft proposal on bilateral agreement between Nigeria and Korea , he said is in the offing, urging that Korea should take advantage of cluster parks being created in the country.
