Anyone familiar with the monotony of the daily commute would welcome a little entertainment or humour to brighten their journey, but you probably wouldn’t expect that entertainment to come from the road signs you’ll inevitably pass. However, a quick search online will show you that these warning signs are often an excellent source of humour, entertainment or sheer confusion, as there are endless examples of pointless, daft or funny signs.
While researching this modern phenomenon of unusual road signs, I came across numerous superb examples, with the intention of posting some of my favourites. However I quickly came across an infographic from MySafetySign that did the work for me, collating some of the best examples from around the world and presenting them with beautiful flat illustrations. Whether it’s a sign whose sole job is to tell you it’s not in use (yes, that exists, and it’s an actual physical sign, not the electronic sign you might be imagining) or a sign warning you that a road might be dangerous when it’s underwater (as if you needed telling that), this infographic proves that paying attention to the signs you see every day might just be an excellent source of entertainment:
