He stressed the need for effective application of the findings of the research conducted in the realms of science, technology and engineering by adopting area specific approaches to solve the developmental needs of the people and also contribute to the creation of greater employment opportunities for the youth.
The Governor emphasised that various Task Forces should be organised for giving boost to different sectors of the economy by applying available research findings in these arenas. He said that we have a vast scope for boosting production and productivity in the sectors of agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, saffron cultivation, sericulture, dairy-farming, mushroom cultivation etc and this needs to be effectively harnessed in the State both for securing the objective of economic development and generating jobs. He said that we have to involve our senior and young researchers of both the State Agriculture Universities to focus on such entrepreneurial initiatives which lead to fast and sustainable economic growth coupled with the generation of larger employment avenues.
While stressing the need for judicious use of natural resources and ensuring protection of the environment and ecology, the Governor observed that it is very important and relevant that we urgently find practical solutions to problems like global warming, climate change, scarcity of water resources, as all these are affecting all forms of life.
