10 killed, 2 injured in Kishtwar,CM announce one lakh each

Jammu, April 28 (Scoop News) – Ten persons were killed and 2 others were injured when an over loaded Tata Suma on its way from Dhar to Drabshalla in Kishtwar fell into a deep gorge.

Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah expressed deep shock over the loss of precious lives in the accident and conveyed condolence to the bereaved families showing solidarity with them.

He announced Rupees one lakh each to the next of kins of those killed and Rs.10,000/- to the injured persons.

The Chief Minister directed the district administration and Health authority for providing all necessary medical treatment to injured.

 

Police said that in a tragic road accident at least ten  passengers  were killed and two  others got  critically wounded  , when a Tata Sumo  skidded off the road and rolled down , about 250 feet into  deep   Nallah  at Duga  under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kishtwar   this afternoon.

The ill fated Tata Sumo bearing registration No.JK06/163 carrying passengers was on its way from Duga  to Dharab Shala  when reached at Duga , the driver of the ill fated Tata Sumo  lost his control over the vehicle due to which it rolled down a deep George resulting 09 persons died on spot and three  others sustained injuries. Out of the injured persons, one more succumbed to his injuries in District Hospital Thathri taking the death toll to ten  persons. Whereas, one injured persons was airlifted to GMC Jammu owing to his critical condition and one child was referred to District Hospital Kishtwar.

          Soon-after receiving the information about the accident, SP Kishtwar   rushed to the spot along with heavy contingent of Police personnel and started rescue operation, SP Kishtwar personally supervised rescue operation. The dead persons were evacuated and injured were immediately shifted to Thathri Hospital by  Police. The deceased have been identified as   Pradeep Kumar  son of  Om Prakahs of Kulchanda ,  Sapna Devi daughter of Des Raj of Kulchanda ,  Anita Devi wife of Subash Chander  of  Gard, Mukti Devi wife of  Des Raj of Kulchanda,  Sheetal  Devi daughter of Des Raj of Kulchanda, Sandeep Kumar son of  Om Prakahs , of Kulchanda  , Joginder Kumar son of Krishan lal of Gard , Ranjeet Kumar son of Mohdan Lal of Sharoti Saroor ,   Govind Kumar son of Hem Raj of Gad saroor and Vishal Thakur son of Des Raj of Sakna kulchanda who later expired in Thathri hospital.

Reports said that Police liaised with higher authorities and managed airlifting of one seriously injured passenger to GMC Jammu  for specialised treatment who has been identified as Des Raj  son of  Ram Charan of Kulchanda  while as Tirath Raj son of Hari Ram of Sharoti Saroor has been admitted in Thathri Hospital.

Meanwhile, in another tragic road accident one young boy was killed while ten others suffered injuries when a bus, in which they were travelling, skidded off the road and turned turtle at Kandi Bridge under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kandi   of district Rajouri this afternoon.

          The ill fated bus bearing registration No. 9925/JK02P was on its way from Jammu to Sangri Chasana Mahore when the mishap occurred.  After receipt of information Police rushed to the spot and started rescue operation . The occupants of the vehicle have been evacuated and rushed to district hospital Rajouri where one person namely Faiz Mohd  (18 years) s/o Mohd Shafi of Dharaj Budhal was declared as brought dead . However, the injured  have been admitted in district hospital Rajouri .
